This feasibility study assesses the development of a potential offshore wind farm in Gujarat and provides detailed technical, economic, environmental and project-development considerations. The study evaluates offshore wind resources, turbine technology, wind farm layout, energy production, foundation design, electrical and grid connection options, metocean and geotechnical conditions, installation requirements, project costs and risks. It also examines the environmental and social aspects of offshore wind development and provides recommendations for project implementation, including LiDAR-based wind measurements, site investigations, grid connectivity, environmental assessment and stakeholder engagement. The study supports informed decision-making for the development of Gujarat’s first offshore wind farm and provides a technical foundation for future commercial-scale offshore wind projects.
