    Brief Report
    WIND ENERGY TECHNOLOGY
    held during 26th to 30th October 2015

    ITCS unit had successfully organized the 18th National training course on “WIND ENERGY TECHNOLOGY” during 26th to 30th October 2015 to address all aspects of Wind Power starting from introduction to wind and its technology, wind resource assessment, installation and commissioning, operation and maintenance aspects of wind farms in a focused manner along with financial and policy aspects. The course was attended by 45 participants from 12 States of the Country with diverse background. The training course was inaugurated by Dr. S. Gomathinayagam, Director General, NIWE with insightful Inaugural address briefing more status of the wind sector and the cause for conducting the training.

    As part of the training course, a Course Material was released and distributed to all the participants, faculties and guest, which is a book compilation of the write – ups of all the presentations / lectures collected from the lecturers specially prepared for this particular content of the course for the benefit of the participants as a ready reference material.

    Release of Course Materials

    There were 27 topics scheduled during the course which were handled by 13 NIWE Scientists / Engineers and 10 External experts drawn from Wind Turbine Manufacturers, Wind Farm Developers, Consultants, Academicians, Utility and IPP.

    The NIWE Campus Facilities were also showcased to the participants for practical exposure, wherein they had an opportunity of understanding how the Hybrid System, Wind – Solar – Diesel system works.

    Dr. S. Selvi Rajan, Chief Scientist & Head, Wind Engineering Laboratory, CSIR-Structural Engineering Research Centre (CSIR-SERC) was the Chief Guest for the Valedictory Function and distributed the Course Certificates to all the participants after her valedictory address, showcasing the Wind Tunnel facility available in CSIR-Structural Engineering Research Centre (CSIR-SERC) Taramani Campus.

    Feedback about the training has been collected from all the participants on various aspects of the training and the overall response is 49% Excellent, 44% Good and 7% is satisfactory. The training course is highly acclaimed for course structure, intellectual level, hospitality and the organizing capabilities.
