The Gujarat Offshore Wind Pre-Feasibility Study, developed under the FOWIND project, assesses the potential for offshore wind energy development along the Gujarat coast. The study evaluates wind resources, identifies eight potential offshore wind zones, and examines key technical, financial, environmental and social considerations. It also reviews suitable wind turbine technologies, foundation options, electrical and grid infrastructure, installation requirements, project risks and financing opportunities. The study highlights the need for detailed offshore wind measurements, geotechnical investigations, environmental assessments and grid studies before progressing to commercial-scale development.
