Painting and Essay Competition on Wind Energy - Report

NIWE with the support of MNRE has scheduled eight events (each event are scheduled for a week duration) to commemorate the 75 years of India's Independence (Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav).

The first event, Painting and Essay Competitions for students was conducted successfully as scheduled from 31st May to 4th June 2021.

Due to pandemic restrictions, the competitions were planned to conduct through online, enabling large number of students to participate. The announcement about the competitions along with following instructions were hosted in NIWE website and circulated through Social Media pages.

Instructions for online Painting and Essay Competitions announced:
  • The registration for the Painting competition should be done on or before 25.05.2021 through the following Google Form, https://forms.gle/Bx3L7oXHkxuQZAfz5.
  • The registration for the Essay competition should be done on or before 25.05.2021 through the following Google Form, https://forms.gle/CwyNc6hQ9gi2bBYB8.
  • Virtual meeting link will be sent to all the registered participants.
  • Events registration time will be 10.00 AM and followed by instruction about the competition.
  • Event duration would be one hour
  • Participants should switch on the camera while participating in the competition.
  • Painting /Essay must be of A4 size sheet.
  • Maximum file size can be up to 10 Megabytes (10MB).
  • Painting File should be saved as JPEG format.
  • Essay File should be saved as PDF format.
  • The maximum length of the Essay will be up to 3 pages.
  • Name, address, email, age, phone number or any contact details should not be written.
  • Each participant should submit only one Painting /Essay.
  • The file should be named as “name of the participant with initial - school name” (Ex. “S. REEMA - KV Meenambakkam”).
  • The completed Painting / Essay should be submitted through email to events.niwe@gmail.com.
  • Theme should be the main focus of the Painting /Essay competition.
  • The Painting /Essay should be an individual effort of a student.
  • Painting / Essay should be the unique work of participant and any violation will lead to disqualification.
  • Only original Paintings / Essays will be considered for the competition. Any form of plagiarism will result in disqualification of the essay.
  • NIWE will hold the rights to use the selected and submitted Painting /Essay in any of its activities.
Registration

A good response of 682 students from all over India registered for the competitions. The following were the categories, themes and registration details of the competitions;

1. Monitoring Committee

As large number of students have registered for the competitions, to conduct the events smoothly, the competitions were conducted in live online mode in different timings having maximum of 100 students per slot, the competent authority of NIWE has constituted a Monitoring Committee with the following NIWE staff;

The Monitoring Committee members along with the organizing team monitored and conducted the competitions as per the schedule and instructions in a live online mode without any malpractices. The participants were then asked to email their Paintings and Essays and the initial screening process was done. The verified Paintings and Essays were sent to the Jury Committee on 07/06/2021 by blinding the identity of the participants for unbiased evaluation.

2. Jury Committee

The each Jury Committee members scrutinized all the Paintings and Essays and awarded marks for each participant based on originality, creativity and relevance to the given theme for each category. The marks were consolidated and convened Jury Committee meeting online on 15th June 2021 at 1600 hours to get concurrences of the Jury members about the consolidated marks awarded by each Jury member and to finalize the top 3 winners for all the categories of the competitions conducted. After the Jury Committee meeting, minutes of the meeting (MoM) has been prepared, which was approved by all the members of the Jury. The competent authority of NIWE has approved the MoM.

As approved by the competent authority of NIWE, all the winners would be awarded cash prize of Rs.1000/- for the First Prize, Rs.750/- for the second prize and Rs.500/- for the third Prize along with the Certificates and all other participants would be awarded with participation certificates.
