Special Training Course on
WIND ENERGY TECHNOLOGY
for the officials of Renew Power Pvt. Ltd.
08th - 13th January 2024

The Skill Development and Training Division of NIWE had successfully conducted the special training course on "WIND ENERGY TECHNOLOGY" for the officials of M/s. Renew Power Pvt. Ltd. held during 08th to 13th January 2024. The course addressed all aspects of Wind Power starting from what is wind to wind resources assessment, project implementation and operations & maintenance aspects in a focused manner along with financial and policy aspects towards going for economically viable wind farm projects. A total of 45 numbers of Renew Power officials working in different facets of wind projects had participated enthusiastically in the course.

The Programme Director, Dr. P. Kanagavel, Director & Head, SDT Division, NIWE delivered the welcome address which was followed by the inauguration of the training course by Dr. Rajesh Katyal, Director General of NIWE. Shri Baba Prasanna, KP, Assistant General Manager, HR, Renew Power Pvt. Ltd. and Shri Rahul, HR was also addressed the gathering.

The following 11 classroom sessions were scheduled during the course, which was handled by 9 NIWE Engineers / Scientists.

  • Installation and Commissioning of Wind Turbines

  • Electrical aspects of Wind Turbines
  • Offshore Wind Energy
  • Economic Analysis of Wind Power Development
  • Wind Energy Policies, Schemes and legal Frameworks

Visit to NIWE RE facilities:

The participants visited the Renewable Energy facilities available in NIWE campus, such as, Water Pumping Windmill, Vertical & Horizontal Axis Small Wind Turbines, Wind-Solar Hybrid System, Wind Turbine Nacelle Assembly facility, Metrological Mast, Biogas Plant and SRRA Station and Wind Energy Training Systems.

Study Visit :

The participants were taken to the southern part of Tamil Nadu to visit Wind Turbine Test Station at Kayathar, where they got an exposure on small and large wind turbine testing process apart from visiting Transformers & Generator Assembly at Apollo Transformer & Engineering Pvt. Ltd., Tirunelveli, Operation and Maintenance facilities of Wind Turbines at RS Windtech Engineering Pvt. Ltd., Aralvaimozhi and CMS SCADA facilities at Suzlon Global Services Limited, Thattaparai.

After all visits were completed, the certificates were distributed to the participants on 13th January 2024. They enjoyed and appreciated the classroom lectures, renewable facility visit and study visits.
