C-WET promotes wind energy in India as a viable option for climate change. C-WET conducts and supports many programs to create awareness on wind energy among schools, colleges and public. As a part of wind energy promoting activities of C-WET, Global Wind Day is celebrated every year on June 15. This year C-WET has planned to celebrate Global Wind Day 2010 for wind energy promotion with events among school children and other stake holders. Wind energy inter school quiz competition, demonstration of renewable energy facilities available at C-WET to children and a special lecture by Dr. Y. E. A. Raj, DDGM, Regional Meteorological Centre, Chennai marked this year’s Global Wind Day. The program was highly appreciated by the participants.
The Global Wind Day 2010 was celebrated at the Conference Hall, Centre for Wind Energy Technology, Chennai, India from 9.00 A.M to 5.00 P.M.
